Free eye tests for adults* and children in Carryduff, Belfast

Free eye tests for children

Free eye tests, funded by the HS, are available for all children up to the age of 16, or age 18 if in full time education.

As children are no longer given a free eye test in school, it is vital that parents book their children in for their free eye test.

Children are eligible for one free eye test each year. At Gillian Gervais Opticians, we have the facilities to test all ages of children, even younger children not yet able to read.

Unless a parent has specific concerns about their children's sight, children normally come for their first eye sight test around three and a half years old.

Even if a parent thinks there are no issues with their child's sight, it's good to have a full eye test to make sure there are no concerning issues either with their eyesight or with their general eye health.
