At Gillian Gervais Opticians, our thorough eye examinations provide an accurate assessment of your vision. Our technology establishes the condition of your vision as well as the health of your eyes. Our standard eye examination even uses retinal screening to investigate the health of your inner eye to check for conditions such as glaucoma, diabetes, depth perception and colour blindness.
We are committed to providing the very best quality when it comes to eye examinations and dedicate sufficient time to all patients to ensure the very best in eye care. A standard eye examination lasts for approximately half an hour and the optician will use a range of tests tailored to your individual needs. Your optician will provide step-by-step explanations so you know exactly what is involved at each stage. Why should you have an eye test?Having clear, comfortable vision is important, but also, during regular eye examinations we check the health of your eyes and can often identify other eye problems such as diabetes and glaucoma.
How often should you have an eye test? The College of Optomestrists, of which we're a member, recommends that people over the age of 16 should have an eye examination every two years, more often if there is a problem. For children, it's recommended that they should be tested every year.
What happens during an eye test?At Gillian Gervais Opticians, an eye test is a very straightforward and thorough process. Each eye test lasts approximately half an hour during which one of our opticians will look closely at all aspects of your vision and eye health.
The optician will ask some questions about your sight, health, your family’s health and your lifestyle. There are many different tests that can be carried out during your eye examination so your optician will select the tests best suited to what you need. During the test, the optician will look at the following:
